Sahibzada Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, president of MQI’s Supreme Council, called on Dr Ahmad Tayyab, Chancellor of Al-Azher University on January 17, 2010 in the latter’s university office. Educational matters of mutual interest came under discussion during the meeting. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri briefed the honourable Chancellor about the partnership between Minhaj University Lahore and Al-Azhar University and conveyed him the message of well being on behalf of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ahmad Tayyab said that there was a need to seek guidance from the thoughts of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in the contemporary age to address the challenges facing the Islamic world. He appreciated the role Shaykh-ul-Islam was playing for the promotion of peace, interfaith dialogue and harmony at multiple levels. He said that both Al-Azhr University and Minhaj University were busy in disseminating knowledge without any bias and discrimination.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri thanked Dr Ahmad Tayyab for sparing time for the meeting and presented him the gift of newly published Arabic books of Shaykh-ul-Islam. Dr Ghulam Muhammad Qamer al-Azhari, member of teaching faculty and Asadullah Jan al-Azhari, joint representative of the Pakistani student community and World Association for Azhar Graduation, were also present on the occasion. It should be remembered that Al-Azhar University is one of the oldest and great seats of learning in the Islamic world.
